We wanted to identify and recognize the people that make our neighborhood so special, so we asked for nominations on our Facebook page, and then let our 2,000 fans vote for their favorite people. Here are the winners, each of which received a Willow Glen Charm t-shirt and “Charming Homes of Willow Glen” calendar.
Oscar from Jack in the Box and Puerta Azul
Oscar brightens days from the drive-thru window at Jack in the Box on Willow, and at Puerta Azul. He received an unparalleled outpouring of support, and is clearly a neighborhood treasure! Here he is showing off the Charm t-shirt he earned.
Mary from the Post Office
Most people rank going to the post office right up there with a visit to the dentist or DMV, but based on the nice things people had to say about Mary, her smile clearly takes some of the sting out of the process!
Tina from Nail Elegance
Nina runs Nail Elegance in the Garden Theater, where she’s built a loyal following of fans who turn to her waxing, massage and facials using Authentic Skin which is free of cancer-causing ingredients. By the way, Authentic Skin itself is the brainchild of local mom and cancer survivor Amy Rueda.
Elva from Elvas Coffee Stop
While downtown has a few big name places to get a cup of joe, a passionate group of Elva’s fans drive the extra mile “stop” in and see Elva at 2206 Lincoln. She’s renowned for offering up old-fashioned small-town service.
Valerie from The Grapevine
Willow Glen wine lovers know there’s no better place to enjoy a glass with good friends than The Grapevine. Since taking it over a few years ago, Valerie has turned it into a great gathering place with the addition of food and her sparkling personality.
